Title: Milk and Human Kindness
Description: This New York Milk Committee leaflet depicts a baby drinking milk from a bottle and advises parents to "keep baby well by keeping the milk clean, covered, and cold." The leaflet encourages the substitution of foods necessary for the war effort with dairy products. Title: Seeing New York
Description: Addressed to students attending summer school at Columbia University and NYU, this folded circular produced by the New York Milk Committee asks students to pay attention to a novel New York attraction -- the successful reduction of summertime infant mortality. From July 1-29, 1911 ,the Committee's efforts were bolstered by educational outreach, the cleanliness of milkmen, nurses, applied hygene, and the activities of the "Little Mother's League." Statistical data and a range of photographs accompany an assesment of the goals and accomplishments of the Committee's infant mortality reduction program. Information pertaining to the location of educational seminars and the methodology employed when recording facts is also provided. Labeled "Efficient Citizenship No. 460" on the final page.

Title: Out of Town
Description: Within this folded circular produced by the New York Milk Committee is a sentimental poem contrasting the summer holidays of wealthy city dwellers with the fate of working-class infants struck down by disease. Title: A 6% Dividend Paid in 1912
Description: A single sheet folded leaflet stating that "8,643 children under 5 years of age" were saved in 1912 thanks to a 6 percent reduction in the infant mortality rate from 1911. This "6% dividend" was paid as a result of the increased availablity of clean milk provided by the New York Milk Committee. The inside provides a bar graph displaying the continously falling infant mortality rate from 1901 to 1905, and asks the reader to consider what the record for 1913 will be if this trend can be continued.

Title: An Accomplishment (1911) and an Expectation (1912)
Description: This single folded sheet leaflet provides a summary of the New York Milk Committee's 1911 accomplishments and a prescription for future action in 1912. Among the triumphs touted are a reduction in infant mortality, the completion of a study of national milk standards, and the apportionment of a grant for the creation of 55 new Municipal Milk Stations. On the back, a reproduced still image from "Care of the Baby," a motion picture filmed for the New York Milk Committee by Thomas A. Edison, depicts mothers, infants, and nurses at a milk station.
